Dr Andrews is a South African scholar-activist, and feminist theorist with longstanding history of solidarity work with Southern African organisations. She is associated with the Rural Women’s Assembly (RWA), is a juror for the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal (PPT), an editor of the journals Transformation: Critical Perspectives on Southern Africa and Right to Food and Nutritional Watch, and a research associate of the Transnational Institute (TNI).

Trained in political economy and political theory, she holds a BA and Honours in Philosophy (University of the Western Cape), an MA in International Political Economy and Development (ISS, Institute of Social Studies, The Hague) and a PhD in Political Theory - Capitalism and nature in South Africa: racial dispossession, liberation ideology and ecological crisis - from the University of Cape Town.
