Elias Weiss
Doctoral Researcher (University of Vienna)
Elias Weiss earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in political science at the University of Vienna. His fields of interest are questions of solidarity in health care, and social and political activism, as well as UBI and workfare/welfare policies. He has been part of the large international qualitative interview study SolPan – Solidarity in times of a pandemic exploring solidaristic practices during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Exploring the GameStop Incident of early 2021, he further developed the concept of “Parasitical Solidarity”, coined by Sally J. Scholz. He now works as a CeSCoS fellow and PhD student at the University of Vienna to refine this theoretical concept and adapt it for further empirical use.
