NEW PUBLICATION: “Solidarity is essential in a more transactional global health era.”

We are pleased to share our new paper, “Solidarity is essential in a more transactional global health era,” now published in Nature Health.

This paper is the result of a collaborative effort bringing together perspectives from funders, multilateral agencies, research institutions, civil society and other global health actors. It is also the first of several papers emerging from the Convivial Workshop, building on the collective conversations and reflections around what solidarity can and must mean in global health.

At a time of shifting global health priorities, changing funding landscapes and growing pressure to view health partnerships through transactional lenses, the paper makes the case that solidarity is essential to building a fairer, more sustainable global health system.

The paper reflects on what solidarity means in this changing landscape and why we need to move beyond solidarity as rhetoric towards relationships, structures and practices that can withstand political and financial pressures.

It also speaks to a central question for the Global Health Solidarity Project: How can solidarity be embedded meaningfully in the systems, institutions and partnerships that shape global health?
