GH-Solidarity Project Takes Part in Atlantic Institutes’ Climate Convening in Bogota

Atlantic Institutes’ climate convening in Bogota

The GH-Solidarity Project participated in the Global Convening on Planetary Health and a Just Transition, organised by the Atlantic Institute and Dejusticia, held in Bogotá from October 14-18, 2024. This gathering aimed to foster alternative narratives, share knowledge, and strategise for a more harmonious relationship with nature.

The event aimed to galvanise collective action against the climate crisis and influence decisions in multilateral forums, including climate and biodiversity COPs. Discussions revealed both shared views and critical debates, emphasising the intertwined political and ethical challenges in global health and climate change. Structural injustice, a root cause of the climate crisis, was highlighted, with poignant reminders of the risks faced by activists. The term "solidarity" was used numerous times and principles like honesty, trust, and collective action appeared as vital in pursuing a just transition. The convening reinforced the importance of linking human well-being with environmental health—essential for preventing future climate-related crises.
